In 48 hours, 16 die in killings and counter killings in Kaduna, say Kaduna govt, SOKAPU

The bloodletting in southern Kaduna continued unabated in the last 48 hours with the killing and counter-killing of 16 persons.

First it was the erasure of the lives of five members of a family and two others in Gona Gan village in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area (LGA), according to the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU).

The invaders, believed to be Fulani herdsmen, also burnt down 17 houses in the village.

The victims are: Ayuba Sheyin, 65; Jummai Sheyin, 55; Patience Sheyin, 5; Goodluck Sheyin,11 and Saviour Sheyin, 14. They are all of the same household.

The rest are: Peter Akau, 70 and Joel Ishaya 35.

On Saturday, the State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, disclosed that nine persons lost their lives in a reprisal attack.

“The military under the auspices of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) and the police have informed the Kaduna State Government of counter-attacks on some herder settlements in Kauru and Lere local government areas. (Everyday)
