There are laws regulating the positioning of buildings and other obstructions with reference to roads. Presently, in Abuja and most states in Nigeria, you cannot build anything within 30.48 meters of the centre line of a road. Hence, that part of your land must be left empty. Doing otherwise is a criminal offence. My authority is sections 5 and 8 of the Building Lines Regulation Act, 1936, Cap 482 Laws of the FCT 2006 and other similar equivalent laws of other states of Nigeria.
