CSOs Protest: We demand an independent investigation into JAMB’s operations in the 2025 examination, urgent comprehensive reforms to restore transparency and public

Although the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a fresh round of mop-up examinations to accommodate the over 5.6 per cent of candidates who missed the just-concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, a group of civil society groups are insisting on the cancellation of the entire process.

In a post made on her X (former Twitter) page, law professor Joy N. Ezeilo. SAN narrated how she participated in a peaceful protest calling for a nationwide cancellation of the UTME.

“I participated in a peaceful march organized by civil society groups that called for the complete cancellation of the 2025 UTME results nationwide. The march demanded an independent investigation into JAMB’s operations during the 2025 examination and emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive reforms to restore transparency and public trust.

“Additionally, the groups advocated for a nationwide resit of the 2025 UTME under a restructured, accountable, and student-focused system.
Prof. Joy Ngozi Ezeilo ( SAN, OON).”

In his article, The ghomid in the tears of JAMB, notable columnist Suyi Ayodele said: ‘So, when Professor Is-haq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar, came crying over the mass failure recorded for over 400,000 candidates who wrote this year’s UTME because of the glitch which affected JAMB servers, Nigerians must know that there were more issues than the computer malfunctioning Oloyede cried about. The tears of the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin were nothing but Ekún Egbére….”
