A man who allegedly stole God’s money, one Mela Samaila, has landed in a big trouble. He is presently in police detention.
The suspect reportedly broke into a church auditorium located in Ojodu, near Lagos, and stole the church’s offering box believed to contain large sums of money.
The suspect was said to be a former security guard at the worship centre, Grace Nations Church a.k.a Liberation City, Ojodu.
The man, Samaila, was arrested following a distress call received by the police at Ojodu Abiodun Divisional headquarters from security men on duty at the church, at about 04:00am that a thief scaled the fence of the church, broke into the main auditorium and made away with the church offering box.
Upon the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Ojodu Abiodun, Csp Eyitayo Akinluwade, quickly mobilized his patrol team to the scene, combed the area and succeeded in arresting the suspect with the help of the security men of the church.
In the process, it was learnt that the offering box was recovered from him.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was once a security man in the church, but was relieved of his duty due to some untoward behavior.
Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the story.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward A. Ajogun, has directed that the suspect be charged to court without delay as soon as investigation is concluded.
