While many have continued to question why the recently released husband of the 20-year-old Bauchi housewife who was raped by a Deputy Immigration Superintendent, Sani Muazu in-front-of her children and husband was detained in the first place while the alleged aggressor is free.
After the traumatized woman made a formal report to the authorities, leading to officer Muazu’s arrest, he was released on administrative bail after a day in custody.
But in a shocking turn of events, the officer filed a petition against the husband, accusing him of kidnapping and banditry. The husband was subsequently detained for over a week.

REPORT ON AN ALLEGED CASE OF RAPE INVOLVING AN IMMIGRATION OFFICER SANI SALEH MUAZU
INTRODUCTION
The NBA Human Rights Committee of the Bauchi Branch promptly responded to an alarming case involving the alleged Rape of a married woman by an Immigration Officer Sani Saleh Muazu.
This report outlines the details of the incident and the subsequent actions taken by our committee.
Investigation and Survivor Testimony:
Upon receiving the news, the Human Rights Committee invited the survivor, accompanied by her children, to provide a detailed account of the events.
According to her testimony Officer Muazu an acquaintance of her husband, had been engaged in fraudulent activities where he swindled her husband of millions of naira.
The officer claiming to have supernatural powers and could make the husband rich and regain all his lost monies and properties.
He persuaded the husband to relocate to Bauchi in order to fix him somewhere that will fetch him money, the husband agreed and the officer moved them to Bauchi from Kaduna state, provided accommodation and sustenance for the husband and his family in Bauchi state.
Allegations of Sexual Assault:
The survivor narrated a disturbing pattern of abuse where officer Muazu declared his love for her, threatening harm to her husband if she refused his sexual advances.
Describing a month-long ordeal, she detailed instances of forced sexual intercourse and physical violence, including a traumatic incident witnessed by her two children where the officer was beating and raping her in their presence.
We interviewed the children and they narrated the horrific experience they witnessed.
Legal Actions and Police Response:
The survivor reported the case, leading to officer Muazu’s arrest. However, he was released on administrative bail after a day in custody.

Advocacy and Intervention:
The committee engaged with high-ranking police officials, expressing concerns over the disparate treatment of the survivor’s husband and the release of the accused officer.
We questioned the validity of the officer’s petition and advocated for a fair investigation into the alleged rape, trespass, intimidation, adultery, and causing grievous harm.
Resolution and Ongoing Efforts:
After our intervention, the husband was granted bail. However, we continue to advocate for the arrest and prosecution of Officer Muazu for his offenses.
Additionally, we call for an expanded investigation to uncover the truth and ensure justice for all parties involved.
