The African Bar Association commenced its 2023 Annual Conference in the City of Pretoria, South Africa. The conference which is being hosted by the 150-year-old University of South Africa (UNISA) in collaboration with the South African Bar saw an array of dignitaries in attendance.
His Excellency Dr Cyril Ramaphosa President of the Republic of South Africa was the Special Guest of Honour, represented by the Minister of Justice of South Africa.
His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President of the Republic of Ghana was physically present, and so were Hon Justice Raymond Zondo, a Justice of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency, Advocate Joseph Kokou Koffigoh (Former Prime Minister of Togo, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Desmond B. Edwards, JSC, Chief Justice of the Republic of Sierra Leone (2023 AfBA Keynote Speaker), Hon Justice Rizine R. Mzikamanda SC, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Malawi, Hon Justice John Inyang Okoro, JSC, Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, Former Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa, Prof Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, Former Minister of State, Petroleum Resources.
The auspicious event saw Afam O. Okeke, Esq. Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Abuja Branch presented with the Life Membership Award of the prestigious Governing Council of the African Bar Association.
