The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two men including a herbalist who was said to have killed a 43-year-old man — Muhammedu Murtala— while trying out the potency of a bulletproof charm in Zaki Local Government area of the state.

A statement issued by the Police Command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, disclosed that Danladi Ya’u, a native doctor from Damaiwa village, Bursali ward in Zaki LGA, and three other accomplices, presently at large, went into the bush on 30 October to test a bulletproof charm on the deceased.

Sadly, the bulletproof charm failed and Murtala died after the native doctor, Danladi Ya’u fired a shot at him from a locally-made gun.

The spokesperson of the police further stated that upon receiving the report, a team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Zaki, responded and arrived at the crime scene to evacuate the body of the victim to the General Hospital in Jakusko, Yobe State, where he was certified dead.

Wakil disclosed that two suspects were promptly arrested, and efforts were underway to track down and apprehend the remaining accomplices.

“The investigation is ongoing, and the defendants will be charged to court as the case unfolds,” he said.
