Rather than address the humongous sum of N500 million approved by President Bola Tinubu as the first instalment of a purported N1bn approval for the inauguration of a 37-man Tripartite Committee on the New National Minimum Wage, the presidency Presidency called for a probe into the civil service structure to rid it of those it called “moles” loyal to the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who it blamed for leaking classified documents.
Amidst starvation and soaring inflation in the country, a leaked memo surfaced days ago revealing that President Tinubu allegedly approved N500m out of a total of N1bn to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, for the inauguration of a 37-man Tripartite Committee on the New National Minimum Wage.
However, while it appears the federal government is unaware of the stinging economic crisis, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Rights Advocate, Femi Falana at the 18th annual memorial anniversary of Dr. Beko Ransone-Kuti, a member of the rights community in his lifetime, called for a social revolution.
Falana at the event reeled out huge and incomprehensible government expenditure in recent times which were at variance with the struggling economy.
Watch the video below of Falana’s thought provoking interventions, questions and more.
