A stranger than fiction absurdity played out in Magama local Government Area of Niger State as the state police command arrested a 37-year old man, who allegedly killed his two children with cutlass.
The suspect, Abubakar Maidabo of Maidobo village in Magama was apprehended by the police operatives attached to Magama Division on November 14, 2020 while trying to escape.
DAILY ASSET gathered that the suspect after killing his two biological children, one Umar Abubakar, 8 and Shehu Abubakar, 4 hid the corpses in the bush in separate sacks. Security operatives were still grappling with the enormity of the development as the suspect refused to disclose his motive behind the dastardly act at press time.
However, the corpse were taken to General Hospital Nasko, the headquarters of Magama LGA for autopsy to ascertain the cause of the children’s death.
The suspect told DAILY ASSET that that he could not really say what pushed him to commit the heinous crime against his biological children.
“Honestly I don’t know what has came over me to kill my own children God has given to me . I think something is wrong somewhere,” he explained.
Asked whether he wanted to use them (children) for ritual purposes, Maidabo said ” that will be the last thing I will do , God forbids in fact I cannot explain how the whole thing happened.”
Confirming the development, Niger state Police Public Relations 0fficer, Wasiu Abiodun said , the suspect confessed to the crime.
Abiodun said the matter would soon be charged to court after conclusion of investigation.
